What browser should I be using? Does iCreditVision recommend any particular company's browser or version?

iCreditVision has developed the iCV Web application with "version 4" browsers in mind. This means a web browser that supports HTML v4. Netscape 4.7x and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x or better should work fine. Other browsers, such as Opera may function as well if they support HTML v4.

iCreditVision recommends Netscape 4.77, or Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher for using the iCV Web application. While we try to make the iCV Web application functional and looking identical in both major browsers, for the very best results, we recommend Internet Explorer 5.5. IE 5.5 or higher is required to use iCreditVision's AutoPrint feature, or to use the LOS interfaces.

Is there anything special I need to know about using the PDF versions of the RMCR report?

Adobe Acrobat v4, when installed, adds a "plug-in" capability for web browsers such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.

iCreditVision has found an issue with the plug-in using various versions of Internet Explorer when downloading the PDF version of the RMCR reports.

To fix the problem with Acrobat v4, open Adobe Acrobat from the Start Menu in Windows. Under File->Preferences->General there is a checkbox to turn off the plug-in called "Web Browser Integration" - turn this off.

In Acrobat version 5, click on Edit->Preferences, then select "Options" from the list, and:

  • turn OFF "Display PDF in Browser"
  • turn OFF "Allow Fast Web View"
  • turn ON "Allow Background Downloading"

We highly recommend Adobe Acrobat 4.05 or better for viewing the PDF files we produce online. For the very best results, we recommend Acrobat v5.0.

How do I make an icon on my desktop for the iCV Web application?

1. Minimize all of your active windows, and open IE or Netscape.

2. Go to https://www.icreditvisions.com/webremote/

3. You will need to drag a small icon from IE or Netscape to your desktop to make the URL shortcut:

IE:

Netscape:

4. Hold down your left mouse button on the small icon circled in the graphics above, and while holding down the mouse button, drag the icon to your desktop:

5. After you let go of your mouse button, a shortcut will be created on your desktop for the iCV Web application login page.

If you want to change the shortcut icon to the iCreditVision icon (Windows 95 or Windows 98 only), you can do the following:

1. Right-click on the new shortcut you just created, and select "Properties" from the menu that pops up.

2. Click on the "Change Icon..." button.

3. In the new window, click the "Browse" button, and open C:\BBPCV. Select "CV6.EXE" and click OK.

4. Select the icon to use, and click OK to close the window. Click OK on the properties window which should update the URL shortcut to the iCreditVision logo.

I'm having difficulty using the LOS controls on the iCV Web application - I'm getting a security error. How do I correct this?

To fix this error (IE only), you may need to adjust some security settings in your Internet Options.

In IE, click on "Tools" then "Internet Options...". Select the "Security" tab from the new window that appears.

In the "Web Content Zone", select the icon for "Internet", then click the "Custom Level..." button.

There are a few settings to adjust here under "ActiveX controls and plug-ins":

Download signed ActiveX controls = "Prompt"
Download unsigned ActiveX controls = "Prompt"
Initialize and script ActiveX controls that are marked as safe = "Prompt"
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins = "Enable"
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting = "Enable"

With these options set, click the OK button to close the security window, and OK to close the Internet Options window.

When you visit the iCV Web application, you may be prompted to download an ActiveX control. This control is absolutely necessary for the operation of the iCV Web application, and especially the LOS functions of the iCV Web application interface. Select "Yes" or "OK" if you are prompted to download the control.

I am having trouble connection to https://www.icreditvisions.com/webremote/ - what can I do?

Can you connect to any other sites? Check sites which are not normally visited so the cached sites aren’t accessed from the local machine. Use the connection tools found in tech support.

Other possibilities:

Browser Encryption (Cipher Strength): Must be at least 128bit. Check by going to Help > About Internet Explorer. Can either update Browser to I.E. 5.5/6 or update just the Encryption by clicking on Update Information on the right of Cipher Strength

Active Scripting: is active scripting turned off? Check by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level. Make sure the Active Scripting option in the Scripting section is set to Enable or Prompt.

Page Cannot Be Found: Is connection still active? Check to make sure you haven’t been disconnected. If on Dialup, try disconnecting then reconnecting again.

I am having trouble viewing pdf's - what should I do?

Acrobat Reader: make sure Acrobat Reader is at least version 4.0 (5.0 recommended)

Popup Stopper: are you running a popup stopper? This prevents the PDF from coming up at all. Clicking on the PDF will take you right back to the document list.

Firewall: is the client running a firewall program such as Zone alarm? Either disable or add icreditvisions as one of the accepted sites.

Memory: is the Acrobat reader opening up but all the PDFs are completely blank? Computer most likely low on resources. Restart computer.

Retype: is it just one specific file that is coming up blank on client’s side? If so, ask your CRA to do a retype of the file and try viewing the new file.

Internet Explorer Settings: if you get a message stating, “Internet Explorer could not download xxxxxx.pdf from www.icreditvisions.com”, you will need to check your advanced settings in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab and scroll all the way down to the Security section. Make sure “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” is UNCHECKED.
